Are you looking for a way to get involved with the Brookline Food Pantry? Well, here are some ideas...
1) We are looking for volunteers who have a larger car, truck or van to help transport donated food, boxes for recycling, and composting.
2) We are currently looking for volunteers who could help with our Food Pantry deliveries on Thursday mornings. This job involves driving a U-haul truck to the Greater Boston Food Bank, picking up the week's groceries and delivering them to the Pantry in Brookline. The hours are approximately 8AM-11AM.

3) Individuals looking to donate a few hours a week to a good cause
Brookline adults who have a few hours to spare during the week can help in the pantry, sorting and shelving food for the shoppers and also assist during the shopping hours. To see our hours of availability visit our Home Page.

4) College and High School Volunteers
The summer time is the perfect opportunity for our high school and college friends to come and help at the food pantry. Our greatest need during the summer is on Thursday mornings from about 10-12. There are also other times that we could use help from our local students throughout the summer. Once you know what your schedule is, contact the pantry and we will be able to get you started on a regular shift or put you on a substitute list where you may be able to help out if the need arises. Our summer student slots fill up so getting in touch with us early is a good idea.

Families with younger children (toddler-13)
There are so many wonderful Brookline families who would love to help out the food pantry and we are so lucky to have you. Since our pantry is quite small and busy we have listed a few of our favorite ways that young families can contribute to our community.
- You can run your own food drive. Collect non-perishible items from friends, family, neighbors and drop to the pantry during any of our open hours. This is a great experience for your kids and really makes a difference in the lives of many in our community.
- Monetary donations also go a long way at the pantry. Your children could host a lemonade stand and contribute the profits to the pantry. We are able to use that money to shop for groceries at the Greater Boston Food Bank where we are able to get much more bang for our buck!
- Are you having a birthday party or BBQ? Having guests bring a pantry donation is another easy way to get involved and donations can be dropped off during open hours as stated above.
- Many of the local Brookline PTOs run food drives throughout the year too so you can contact your school's PTO leaders and join in!
Families with middle school aged children (14-15)
We are sometimes able to accommodate families with middle school aged children. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. During shifts, you would be helping shoppers and restocking shelves.

**Unfortunately, the Brookline Food Pantry is unable to host large groups to work within the pantry because of the size of our facilities. There are however, many wonderful local charities who do a great job of this. Two that we recommend are the Cradles to Crayons organization and the Boston Food Bank.**
